All I have to say to sum up the shower is... WOW!!!!

Words cannot express how truly thankful I am to EVERYONE that attended (or attended vicariously) Baby K's Baby Shower Saturday. I had, and I think everyone will say the same that they had, a wonderful time. I left feeling truly loved and blessed.

Linda (Scott's mom) did a fantastic job, with the help of her "lil' helpers." I had it easy; I spent all day Saturday in bed to prepare myself for the evening... which I'm still recovering from today!

Saturday, I got up to Scott's alarm (5:45AM) so he could get ready for his big day with Mike and my brother, Lyle, at Cedar Point. Scott had to run by and pick up Mike, then head to Cleveland to meet my brother at my Godmother's house... then head on over to Sandusky. Oreo thought that it was time to get up because the light was on and we were both up.... I had a hard time settling her back down to get some more sleep (hurm, wonder if I will be saying this same statement in the next few weeks hehe). We fell back asleep and got up around 8 or so.

I came downstairs just as the 2 "Winnie the Pooh" cakes were being delivered by one of Linda's friends. THEY WERE SO CUTE!!! As Linda informed me, these 2 were to surround the middle "Baby" cake. I had a little bit of breakfast and sat around chatting with Linda while she made little pink sandwiches. YES, the bread was PINK! It was so cute! The bakery she bought it from also does blue bread. The pink bread was one of the hits of the food layout!

I was getting sleepy again, and I didn't want to overdue sitting down or standing too long because I didn't want my back to hurt. I figured I had better get some lunch and then take another nap. I ran up the road to grab some Mickey D's, came back and crashed. I woke up around 1 to voices downstairs, which I swore sounded familiar! It was my Mom, Grandmother and Godmother!! They had arrived an hour earlier! WOO HOO! That was fine with me! I almost ran into Linda as I was heading down the stairs as she was coming up to get me.

I showed them all some of the larger items that we had already purchased, and of course Oreo made her GRAND entrance. She LOVES people and getting loved on 150% of the time. My grandmother really enjoyed her. All of us sat around for about 2 hours just chatting and laughing it up. Linda left to go pick up the watermelon fruit bowl (the people she purchased it from dig out the inside of a watermelon and leave a "handle" and refill the basket with melon/watermelon balls, grapes, strawberries and slices of apples. It was SOOO GOOD! She left around 2:00ish so she could be back by 3:00 to head over to decorate.

We got a phone call saying that RSVP LOST THE BALLOON ORDER! Needless to say, Linda wasn't happy. And this was crazy because she had ordered and they PULLED the balloons almost 2 months ago... and she had paid for everything and we were promised it would all be ready by 2:00 on the 7th. Poor Linda. Linda got home and was a little stressed, but holding up... Linda, Mom, Rebecca and Grandma all headed over to Café 41 Eleven for them to decorate. I was to meet them at 3:45pm to greet people as they came in.

When I arrived there were already several people there and I was blown away by the decorations!!!!!! AND PLEASANTLY surprised by some of the little things that Linda, Cathy, Cindy, Mom, Rebecca and Grandma had done! Everything looked amazing! I almost fell over when I saw the amount of gifts that were already starting to pile up around one of the sofas.

The festivities started a little after 3:00pm with "Guess Sue's Width." This was so funny!!! Linda used toilet paper and everyone had to guess how many squares. The magic number was "11." Three ladies guessed right!!! One of them was NOT my mom!!!! I was looking over at her guess, and she was still counting! I said "Good Lord mom!" and everyone started laughing! She guessed 15! Cindy was one of the winners and she said, "I'm good at this because I know that each square is 4 inches." I looked at her and laughed... she said, "Yeah, I know, everything is mathematical with me." hahahaha

The other games played were "What do the names mean?" There was a list of 10 girls and 10 boys names with a mixed list of meanings of each. It pretty much was a guessing game! I didn't get any of them right!!! I think the winner had 3. teehehe The next game was a fun one! "TV Show Kids." That was a fun one! There were questions such as "Name all the Brady Bunch kids", "Name all the kids from the Cosby Show" or "Who were the two kids that fell in love on the Titanic?" Kaci was the only winner of this game! hehe "I watch a lot of TV."

After these little icebreakers I started the "breaking of the bread." MMMM MMMM Phyllis made chicken salad and ham salad sandwiches. Linda made the pink bread turkey, ham and roast beef sandwiches along with her "famous potato salad." Which INCLUDED CELERY! WOOO HOOO! I think it's only a southern thing to put celery in potoato salad, and LOVE it when Linda puts it in hers.... Scott on the other hand... picks it all out! "I don't like the two textures together... something weird about soft and crunchy being in the same bowl." hahaha There was more than enough food for everyone.... Even for those on diets. teehehe

Linda also provided Rainbow sherbet punch. SO GOOD. I had a little bit of it, didn't want too terribly much.... I have these weird food aversions. I couldn't bring myself to eat the cake or ice cream because of my pregnancy long sweets aversion. But it sure did look pretty and everyone seemed to like it!

After feasting, the PRESENT OPENING BEGAN! Thank you to Phyllis, my Aunt-in-law (Scott's Dad's Sister) who took photos during the festivities. And for Cindy, Phyllis and Tara figuring out Scott's video camera. haha

I opened several gifts.... I started to break a sweat! But I was having fun!! It was so cute that when I opened something everyone would be sorta quiet to hear who it was from or if I had a story to go along with it.... Then as soon as I opened it "OoOoOohhh!!" and "Ahhhhh!!" or the "Oh how cute!!!" from 25+ women! Scott got a kick out of this when he was going through some of the video!

So that everyone could see what was given or check out "they never had that when we had kid" gadgets, Linda had set up an assembly line. Rebecca sat on my left and handed me gifts while My mom sat beside me and wrote down who gave what and my Grandma would pass the gift to the person at the nearest table and it made it's way around the room to the very back where it was then stored until the end of the shower.

Linda had a good idea of breaking up the gift opening into 2 parts so that if people needed to leave they didn’t feel weird getting up during the middle of it. We played another game…. “Guess the baby food.” Linda had 8 different kinds of baby food with no labels marked 1 – 8. You had to guess what you thought was in each jar! Most had 2 or 3…. but Debbie got 6 out of 8!!!!! I was so impressed with her baby food skillz! She joked “I might not know much, but I know my baby food!” hehe

Decorations began at around 3:00ish and it was nearly 8:00PM when the last item was packed into the 4th SUV. AMAZING TIME! It flew by in a flash... but such a wonderful time!

I have to say again, that the words "thank you" don't come close to how lucky I am to have such wonderful people in my life. Everyone gave so generously!! I was completely blown away, surprised and grateful to everyone came or couldn't come but gave a wonderful gift. Baby K is SET when she is unleashed on this world, and it's so comforting to know that she will be surrounded by such love and admiration. Look... you all got me all misty-eyed just typing this.

Scott called around 9ish to ask how everything went in a really raspy voice. And I tried to explain how wonderful everything was, but I was getting a little emotional, so I told him that I'd have to have him just see it to believe it! Then I had to ask:

"Are you hoarse?"
His proud reply was "Yes."
"I take it you had a great time then?"
"Oh yeah! But I might have to wait until tomorrow to tell you all about it."
"Understood! Be safe coming home."
"Will do, love you."

Scott got home and I gave him a brief overview of the stacks of stuff in the living room, and to be careful were he stepped. We then both headed to bed and CRASHED.

Sunday wasn't just a day of rest... it was a day of crashing for EVERYONE. I could have slept in until 1:00 but I wanted to get up to meet my mom at 9:00ish for she, my brother and grandmother to get an idea of where we were going to live, as well as take a few more photos of us together because I hadn't seen Lyle since my grandfather's passing Father's Day weekend. I gave Lyle a brief rundown of show and tell of items that Baby K received. His first response at seeing everything was "OH MY GOSH!" I don't think I could have expressed it better myself. hahahahaha

We took a few pictures, Oreo came down to say g'bye to everyone as well as try to snag a few toys.... But Lyle was all over it... "No Oreo, not yours." Followed by a bellowing room full of laughs. I was sad to see Mom leave.... But I was glad that she was able to drive up.

I told her that "this isn't bye, this is a see you in about 8 weeks !" With that they all left to head back to Virginia and Scott and I grabbed some breakfast then headed home to go through everything to show Scott and Tom and gave me a chance to organize it all. Tom fell asleep in the chair before we finished!!!! hehehe After boxing everything up Scott and I took a much needed nap!!!

It was a WONDERFUL weekend.... Now to just have another weekend to recover from my weekend.
