Happy New Year!

Hello 2009!!!

We had a wonderful low key New Year's Eve at our house. This year there wasn't a party at Phyllis and Gary's so we offered up our house to watch football, a movie and the ball drop..... with exciting cuts to Robbie Maddison doing his death defying motorcycle jump. The highlight was the amazing food we ordered from Mama Rosa's right down the street from us!

They had $2 HUGE meatball subs.... and I think in the house there were 3 - 4 devoured along with several pizza's and gyro's. It's a small ma and pop joint that ROCKS. We'll definitely continue to be buying from them.

Scott and I decided NOT to keep the girls up to watch the ball drop due to all the crazy festivities from the past 2 weeks, and it worked out well as they both went down pretty easily and the next day Riley was so tired that she put HERSELF down for a nap without me even knowing. I love having them in their beds now!

Grammy B flew up from Virginia on Saturday with too much excitement. The flight had problems coming out of Detroit, where they eventually delayed it by 9 hours and ended up losing my mom's luggage. UGGGGG. Thankfully she did fly in safety and we did our Christmas with her this evening.

The girls were excited to open up everyone's gifts, not just their own which was funny.... though Riley was a wee bit tired and didn't like hearing the word no.

Reese and Riley received these really cool dolls where you point to different spots on their body and they say what they are as well as in Spanish.... but they both loved their clothes. Reese set out what she wanted to wear the next day that night. That's my girl.

Reese spent the night at Ma and Pa's last night since Matt was in town. As a surprise Scott built Riley's toddler bed and I broke down the tent and reorganized the room to be able to put Riley's bed in there.

It was sad to take down the tent. That had been in Reese's room for about 3 years.... but as soon as we get bunk beds in there (next Christmas, Reese is still a bit too young to be on the top bunk) I promised we'd put it back up in there.

The first night with the girls in there was a little long as they were both SO excited to have eachother in their room. But no one got out of bed other than going to the bathroom and slept through the night!

What a WONDERFUL Christmas Morning, Afternoon and Day!!!!

The look on the girls' faces when they finally came down stairs with all of us was amazing! They were so into seeing everything in the stockings, opening up every little thing and gift.

We all were spoiled beyond belief, and definitely have to say thank you for all the wonderful gifts, even from Scott. I was pleasantly surprised at his gift choices this year.

Reese did receive her beloved cupcakes from Santa. Her face was priceless once she saw what was in the box and it was one of the first things she opened before breakfast.

The kids opened up all their gifts and we fixed breakfast then Scott and I opened up our gifts. By the time it was all said and done it was around 10:30 and we got dressed to head over to Ma and Pa's for their Christmas!

They opened up their gifts, after almost a shotgun race to wait for Tom, Matt, Shaun and Linda to open their gifts. We all laughed at there eagerness.

All of us received such nice things, thank you again!

The girls took naps while Scott and I opened our gifts in a nice leisurely fashion. It was nice to have dinner over at Phyllis and Gary's later in the evening so that we didn't feel so rushed doing our family stuff.... and the girls were able to get their second wind.

The morning started off with a great breakfast at Cracker Barral. But poor Riley got sick, not in a good way, on the way there once and at the table. That didn't detour Reese eating her weight in food. Even Shaun commented that Reese ate more than he did. Thankfully no one else got sick the rest of the day.

Later that evening we went headed over to Scott's parents house for Linda's annual lasagna dinner. It was delicious as always and nice low key event. As soon as we got there we all took photos before the kids got WAYYYY WAYYYYYY out of hand. The photos didn't turn out too bad with a tripod and timer!

After we had our delicious meal the girls opened up ONE Christmas Eve gift…. Riley was wanting to dig right into all the gifts, hers or not…. But they both were thrilled to see that we were given 2 more cars for our train at home.

We packed up and headed home where we went right into our Christmas Eve traditions of putting out cookies, carrots and milk for Santa and his reindeer.

IMG_2102

Added the new tradition of sprinkling reindeer food out in the front yard that Reese made at preschool last week.

The girls also sat down with Dad and wrote out their letters to santa to hang with their stockings and signed them.

And we finished up the night with me reading Twas the Night Before Christmas while Scott cleaned up the dining room, complete with vacuuming! I love my husband. He said he wanted it to look nice to start out on video.

The kids went fast to sleep and then the Elves helped set everything up, assemble everything and stuff the stockings. The next morning Reese said she heard Santa coming down the chimney!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve at Our House!

Scott's family came over to our house to have a light dinner before the rest of the Christmas festivities begin. Scott's company gave us a wonderful ham, on top of the huge bin of 3 different gourmet popcorn to the kids. The popcorn was long since eaten before tonight, but the ham was saved out special for 2 days worth of ham sandwiches! Delicious ham... just the right thickness, saltiness and fat content, which was almost nonexistent. Thank you Sunnydale and Scott's company.

I also made my first Broccoli Cheese Soup from Linda's recipe. Scott had gone out and gotten me all my ingredients, but had accidentally picked up the wrong noodles. I was a bit apprehensive about them, they were thin spaghetti, not the thin rice noodles, but to my surprise, it was a good mistake! Tom even complimented me on the soup and how he liked it having more noodles. The girls ate it up better too since it wasn't too terribly soupy. Both ways work well, but I think we'll stick with the thicker noodles when it's just us, though Linda did give me the right noodles to try as well a few days later.

Oh my goodness! I was pleasantly surprised to see that the photo I had submitted to the Norton Post with all the kids not only made it into the paper, but the front page this week!

We decided, on a whim, that we hadn't gone by to see the Christmas Lights at Lake Anna in Barberton. We hustled up, bundled up and skaddled over there.... however, it was a wee bit colder than we thought, but the girls enjoyed riding.... though as the title says Reese told us "I'm freezing my little butt off!"

The lights were beautiful as always, and I think that they did add a few more displays this year to mix things up a bit.

Reese was pretty funny when she asked where the skier's were. This is the same lake we saw the stunt water skiers.
