I've been noticing that I haven't had to get up by my alarm the past couple of days. I think this is due to lil' Monkette being on a schedule. She always seems to kick me between 6:45 - 7:00ish. I usually am up by 7:00 but I find it fascinating that she is on her own time schedule. I know that it will be MUCH more intense and lots less sleep when she's finally here... but being right around 26 weeks inutero, it's amazing! Ask me how I feel about this when she's waking us up every 3 hours... I might be a little less enthused, but hey, for the time being.... I'm enjoying it.
I tried the "flashlight" game last night. Ya know what... It works! I can tell when she's spinning or trying to swing from my ribs, but can't quite reach yet... sometimes its' VERY uncomfortable. You can actually see either her head or butt smashed against one side of my belly. The flashlight actually stimulates her to move to the other side. It's such a weird feeling to have something moving and growing inside of you that's SUPPOSED to be there. hehe
Scott has been "testing" the Sony HandiCam the past couple of days. He's experimenting with Oreo... it's hysterical. He keeps referring to Monkey when he's video taping Oreo by saying "Just wait when we can video tape her, I'll have so much fun! Look, it even does night vision!" I think we've unleashed a video taping fewl!
My appointment Thursday has been moved up to 12:00 noon, hopefully Scott will be able to make it (he started his new job this week), but if he can't I understand completely. :o)
I think that about does it for any major announcements or developments. I've posted my 26-week belly picture. WOW, only 14 weeks left! *faint*
Hello, my name is Sue, I'm a yard sale addict
Monday, June 28, 2004
Quick rundown of the weekend incase you can't make it all the way to the end:
Watched movies
AWESOME yard sale deals on clothes (photos)
Purchased changing table (photos)
Got my hair cut
Went to zoo (photos)
Found awesome kids clothing store
Sold/Sale pending on my VW
Signed up for Child Birthing Classes
Signed up for Breastfeeding Class
Saturday, I got up at the crack of dawn to head to my AquaSculpt class, which RULED as usual! I had to leave at 8:30 so that I could take a shower, get ready to head around the neighborhood scooping out the yard sale before my hair appointment! BOY DID I RACK UP, and Scott actually found the mother of all deals when I headed out to my hair appointment! And you know me.... here goes the photos!
This was from one house $15.00 (would have only been $10, but I really liked the little quilt onesie with matching hat in the upper right). She gave me all the socks, hat and little headband FREE! There are 4 2 piece outfits ranging from 0-3 through 6-9 months. The purple outfit right beside the little green outfit is all velvet and the best thing is the sleep sack... it's covered in MONKEYS!!!!!!!!!!!
This was from another nice couple's house ($14.00). It was perfect because the couple were the same height as Scott and I and gave us a GREAT idea of how tall our kiddo would probably be. These outfits ranged from 0-3 to 4T. I love love love love love the little yellow dress with matching little purse!!!! I bought 1 receiving blanket and the other is a little ducky bath hoody.
While I was going through the little kiddos clothes from above, Scott tapped me on the shoulder at 9:30 and said "SUE YOU ARE LATE FOR YOUR HAIR APPOINTMENT!" haha So I had to TEAR myself away from the tables and head over to my appointment. While I was driving back to the house to drop Scott off, he said "Hey, I think that there is a changing table there." I said, ok, I'll drop you off at the house, and you check it out... I give you permission if it's in good shape and in our price range to get it. LMAO! We both laughed at that one.
I felt bad that I was 10 minutes late to my appointment, but Wendi didn't realize she had an appointment at 9:30!!! So she felt bad because she didn't realize. We had a good time chatting it up, and she said "Sue, when was the last time you came in here? Your hair is really long?!" I said, "Would you believe..... about 4 weeks ago?" Everyone was amazed, I tried to tell everyone that my hair is growing crazy fast... guess they now believe me! haha
After my appointment on my way back, Scott called and asked if we wouldn't mind inviting Lacey to go with us to the zoo because we had an extra ticket and Mike had to go into work last minute and she would just be sitting around the house all day. I of course said YES! I came home and was getting ready to head out and Scott said, "Did you see the changing table?" I said, "You got it?!" He said "Oh yeah." I walked around the corner... and WOW! I was very impressed with it! It even matches our crib! It's solid wood as well as no marks!
Estelle was checkin it out, more like seeing if there was enough room for her to jump on one of the shelves!
Terrycloth side organizer
Another little side plastic organizer (the slightest little crack on the top but nothing that can't be fixed)
Want to guess how much Scott paid for the changing table?
SCOTT IS THE MAN!
After oohing and ahhing over the changing table Scott and I headed out to pick up Lacey to head to the Cleveland Zoo. It was SO MUCH FUN! We had free tickets to the zoo, dinosaur exhibit, rainforest exhibit and FREE lunch care of Scott's dad's company. Scott really enjoyed several Good Humor ice cream bars. I must say... the push-ups and firecrackers were YUMMY. haha Scott's parents couldn't use the tickets because they were in Florida, so they gave them to us. We arrived right at lunchtime and left around 5:30. WE HAD A BLAST!
Here are some photos from the day:
MY FAVORITE PHOTO OF COURSE!
On the way home Scott was in heaven because we were near a Ci-Ci's pizza. hehe Lacey had never been to one before (they are relatively new to the North... there were tons of them around me in Virginia). After we chowed down, I asked if we could go across the parking lot to Priceless Kids. None of us knew what it was... but boy was it awesome when we went in! It's 0months - older kids clothes.... NAME BRAND...... and the best thing..... 50% - 75% off of everything there!!! Here are 2 outfits that we purchased... 2 for $10.00 with an additional 20%.... So with tax, it came to $8.49.
The little 4 piece Carter's watermelon outfit (Look familiar? I purchased one like this at a yard sale in Virginia, but it was purple with butterflies!). The other little purple outfit is an Eric Carle and it has the little hungry catapillar with 3 plums and it says "And he ate through 3 plums" it's a 24 month outfit. The little butterfly at the top Scott purchased for me at the zoo! It has a wire stem that can be wrapped! It was just cute, and for $1.95, figured it was worth it. hehe
Check out everything... and the lovely price of EVERYTHING in the photo! YARD SALES RULE!
We got home around 7, and it was still beautiful out so I took some photos of the VW to send to some interested prospects. My BIL said that there were several people that were looking at the VW, but I didn't have too many calls... which was fine with me... let people think it over, I wanted only serious buyers. Scott did a little bit more de-weeding and we watched another one of our movies, and I crashed on the couch.
I got up REALLY early Sunday morning and started cleaning, doing laundry and checking email. GUESS WHAT?! I SOLD MY VW! WOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! I got an email from a gentleman in Scotland that is going to pay for all shipping and everything. I told him that I won't release anything until the check/money order or whatever is being sent has cleared 100%, and that I wouldn't be responsible for any shipping... it's all on him. He agreed!
I got Scott up around 10:30 for us to run some errands, go grocery shopping and for Scott to finish up getting the last 2 bags of mulch up the street to finish off the front yard. The rest of the day was spent just hanging out and cleaning up.
Scott again, IS THE MAN! :)
I received my 26-week baby update, and it told me to sign up for child birthing classes soon. I was wondering when I should do that! I found my hosptial's website, called Sunday night and signed up for the 7 week class AND signed up for their Breastfeeding class! WOO HOO! Our first birthing class starts next Wednesday at 7:00PM!!
Hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend as well!
It feels as though we’ve driven around the world

*Sorry for the long post, have almost a week to catch up on!*
Scott and I packed Tuesday night, and made arrangements to drop off Oreo at the vets to get spade early Wednesday morning. Matt, my middle brother-in-law did a FABULOUS job taking care of Oreo while we were away. I was MOST impressed and thankful that Matt was willing to take care of her. He picked her up, made sure she was comfortable, tended to her bandages, made sure she didn’t mess with her stitches, gave her her pills, took her for walks and made sure she was all around one happy puppy… which she DEFINITELY WAS! THANK YOU MATT!
I made my way back into Ohio Saturday night after spending Wednesday evening – Saturday morning in Virginia attending my Step-Grandfather’s funeral. Scott and I drove down together Wednesday afternoon and arrived at my mom’s house late that night. Thursday we attended the wake 2 ½ hours away in a little town that my mom grew up in and my Grandmother still lives. The wake was nice, we met a lot of people that I recognized, but see rarely.
Scott and I drove home late Wednesday night, grabbed a bite at the slowest BK in the whole WORLD, and ended up getting our money back and heading to Taco Bell. hehe Friday we woke up early in the morning, grabbing some breakfast at Shoney’s and heading out to my Grandmother’s house again for all of us to meet there before heading to the church for the funeral services. Scott and I were about an hour later than expected, but we made it in PLENTY of time. The heat index that day was about 110+ degrees. I felt horrible for Scott and my brother, but they were prefect gentlemen and didn’t complain ONCE. I was actually quite comfortable. I was grateful that my good friend Mandy had given me a few maternity clothes, one of which, was a summer black dress. It kept me cool enough, and I kept bottled water handy incase I got too over heated. At the wake I had a little bit of a dizzy spell because it got hot in the viewing room really fast.
The funeral service was very nice and there were a TON more people than expected… or at least had shown at the wake. The minister (92 years young) that married my Grandparents said several kind words and did a shortened sermon. The interim minister delivered the eulogy. I was holding up fine until the he asked for everyone to stand and sing Amazing Grace… my mom was beside me and she always brings me to tears when she sings. My mom used to teach the choir as well as sing in the choir all through high school and college in the very same church we were standing.
We left the church and said our goodbyes around 3:00pm. Scott and I had to book it back to Richmond to meet up with Mike and Lacey who were driving down from Ohio heading to Virginia Beach for another friend’s wedding on Father’s Day. We made great time, and even had time to have a SCRUMPTIOUS meal at Friday’s. I was craving something spicy, and boy did I get it! teehehe Scott also surprised me and purchased these little hand and toe covers that have a big butterfly and a flower on each with little rattles in them as well as an “Eight Silly Monkeys” book. TOO CUTE!
I went ahead and gave Scott his Father-To-Be present before he left, he loved it!!
Scott and I were heading to the rendezvous point and received a phone call from Mike saying to “please pick up some tarp and duct tape.” Of course the next question was “oh no, why?” Seems that a rock had bounced off the road and hit squarely in the middle of the sunroof of their car!! Thankfully no one was hurt, just a bunch of glass everywhere. Scott and I picked up the supplies and headed over to the hotel.
After Scott was picked up, I headed back to my mom’s house where I the best long bath! It felt soooo wonderful! I haven’t had a deep warm bath like that in ages….. I slept like a baby.
I woke up around 7:30AM, gathered up everything and headed out. I made a pit stop by 7-11 for my last slurpee for awhile (7-11’s don’t exist in Ohio) and remembered that I had forgotten my pillow!!!! So I rushed back to the house hoping to catch my mom, but she had already left for her board meeting… so I rang the doorbell for five minutes straight until my brother came groggily down the stairs. hehe And headed out again!
I was passing all kinds of yard sales going on, and refrained from purchasing anything, until I drove past a woman that was selling baby clothes…. WHAT LUCK, ALL GIRLS CLOTHES!!! I purchased several infant and toddler outfits, many with tags STILL ATTACHED for $14.00!! ALL NAME BRAND! SCORE ANOTHER GREAT DEAL FOR SUE!
2 3T capris STILL with $9.99 tags
3 piece 12 month outfit
4 onesies
2 outfits, 12 months STILL with tags
6-9 month velvet outfit WITH tags and matching hat
2 outfits and 1 fleece jacket
I was finally “on the road” around 9:30 – 10:00. I followed the directions that my wonderful hubby wrote down for me. I love the “side road” from Ohio – VA and vise versa. I stopped only a few times for a bathroom break and for lunch. I got home around 5:30. I took Matt out to Dairy Queen for dinner as a small thank you for taking care of Oreo, WHO BY THE WAY…. HAS NOT LOST ANY OF HER PEP. hahahaha Oreo and I both crashed and woke up Sunday semi-fully rested.
Scott is going to mulch for his dad and mom while they are out of town as a surprise and thank you. I was trying to be a good lil’ wife and surprise Scott by doing most of the wedding in the mulch beds…. However, after about 30 minutes I was dead. I ended up just pulling up the “big uns” and would help later in the week. The rest of the day was going through baby items, organizing and putting them into boxes. I also did all the laundry and started on the dishes. I didn’t want Scott to have to deal with anything when he got home REALLY REALLY late Sunday night/Monday morning, 12:30AM to be exact.
I came home to a big box from my wonderful eBay pal, Sandy, containing my wonderful Medela backpack that my Godmother purchased for me:
and a bunch of other goodies, including this:
My WONDERFUL eBay pal sent this to me with my Medela backpack, Chili pepper Halloween outfit!
Lil’ Miss Monkey has been SUPER active lately. She loves to kick and punch as hard as she can. It’s so funny to watch… especially Oreo’s reaction when she’s leaning on my tummy or when I have the remote resting on my tummy. Scott still refers to her as “our lil’ alien wanting to bust out of there!” I said as long as it wasn’t like Rhino scene out of Ace Ventura, Pet Detective I would be AOK! We made jokes that my belly button is like a periscope! haha My next doctor’s appointment is July 1st. Dr. Davenport said she’d be more than happy to let us take a peek at our lil’ monkette that day as well!!! Can’t wait to see her again! More maternity shots as well as 25 week bell pics added!
I think that pretty much sums up from last Wednesday until today. I hope that everyone had a great week, weekend, Father’s and Father’s-to-be Day!
Sad News

9 Lightweight long sleeve onesies

3 Hallmark silver accented butterfly wrapping paper. 12 sq feet a piece for baby shower gifts for my Mother-in-Law. She didn't know I got these, they left for FL this morning, but thought she could use em.
SO.... WHAT'S YOUR GUESS??? How much do you think everything was?
ALL THE BABY CLOTHES!
8 socks 3 onesies 5 heavy fleece onesies 9 long sleeve/light weight onesies 6 2-piece infant outfits 3 2-piece toddler outfits 1 pair of jeans 1 pair of jean bibs 1 sleep sack 2 toddler heavy fleece onesies 1 two-piece dress 1 jacket
I think I can officially say that I am now in FULL baby mode. I have been using my BabyPlus religiously twice a day for the past 2 months. We've gotten the crib, glider with ottoman is on the way, stroller is on the way, my breastpump is on the way, Scott reminded me to purchase my Lilypadz the other day and I'm going to head out to a community wide yard sale that is going on this Friday - Sunday. I hope that I can find a dresser and matching changing table.... If I don't I still have my eyes set on that I've found around town.
As a side note, I must say that the Lilypadz are really quite amazing and I'm so glad that I was introduced to them at the American Baby Fair a couple of months ago. I purchased them at Motherhood, but I also could have gotten them at my hospital.
Linda has been getting the entire baby shower together. She found WONDERFUL deals at Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday. She came home with a HUGE bag full of candles, soaps, bath sprays and a ton of other great little finds as baby shower prizes. I'm jealous of some of the stuff!
Our lil' monkey is still swingin' from side to side. Scott gets a kick out of watching my stomach move, and we both have to laugh when she knows that it's HIS hand on my stomach and not mine... I think cuz it's so much warmer than mine, but if he gives her a little time *waaaapow* she lets him have it, or is that me?
I've been put on hold with regards to buying any more baby items until after the shower per Mr. Scott. I think I'd buy out the entire section of Wal-Mart if I could. Their little bugs and butterfly items are SOOOOOO CUTE. Oh well, I can wait. *wink*
OH I ALMOST FORGOT... Scott accepted a MUCH better position with a much larger company today! WOO HOO! Much better pay and benefits as a whole, and don't worry.... The insurance carrier is accepted by my Doctor/Mid-Wife and Hospital. :)
On a more somber note, please keep my grandfather in your prayers. He did very well during his colon surgery last week and was expected to come home in a few more days... however, last night he took a turn for the worse and had to be put on a ventilator because he's having a hard time breathing on his own. I hope he pulls through this rough time.
Not too much else going on in the way of news or baby news. I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day.
Movin' right along... literally

Happy 23 weeks to Lil' Monkey, or is that Monkette now? We had a very eventful/non-eventful weekend. Scott and I went by Wally-World Saturday night and I found some of the cutest items! I broke down and bought a little fleece sleep sack that had a little butterfly on it that said "Sweet Dreams..." in the loops of where the butterfly flew. It was just too cute to pass up! I also was able to purchase a dress at Motherhood that didn't make my butt look too terribly huge and fit right for a wedding we are attending on July 3rd. It's weird the way that "dress up" clothes are cut for pregnant women.... Lots of leg, cleavage and in some cases, lots of belly showing off. I guess I'm way to conservative for "the modern mother." Hey, I'm soggy with a slight crunch... but nowhere near being a crunchy mom!! *wink Dawn* I posted 23-week belly and maternity pics. And before you ask... no I don't wear the tank top out....I had another shirt on top of it, but you really couldn't see my belly if I kept it on. :}
Scott and I went to dinner with my Godmother, Rebecca, Sunday evening. It was so wonderful to see her! How pathetic are we though, we only live about 40 minutes away and we haven't seen each other since the wedding! haha Oh well, such is life. It was just so wonderful to see her. She was gracious enough to give Scott and I our big gift early... my glider with matching ottoman! I ordered it this morning! I also had enough left over to go ahead and pay my wonderful eBay pal for the Medela breast pump. WOO HOO! Now to start thinking of getting a changing table and dresser, I think we are going to wait until after the shower for those items, we don't need them quite yet, but I wanted to go ahead and get the glider so I could sit in it during the shower. It should be arriving in the next week.
Scott is the MAN at finding good deals as well... we happened to be in Target to pick up some items and on our way out I saw a flyer for a digital camcorder, which we found out was a cheap little webcam, but the photo was sure inviting. This was ok though, we ended up finding an AWESOME deal. Target has Bestbuy's equivalent of "open box items" in their digital camera/camcorder department. There were several really nice Sony camcorders for $100 and under, but as Scott told me later, "they were Hifi-8 which is the older generation." After about an hour and "researching on the phone" with my FIL, Scott and I purchased a palm sized $600 Sony DCRTRV19 MiniDV Camcorder with 2.5" LCD for right around $100 and we only have to buy a $30 battery for it. AMAZING!!! I was floored.... All Clearance/Display items are an additional 30% of the already marked down price. Scott came home and did more research, the cheapest he could find the camera on other people's sites on clearance was $350. WE GOT A STEAL! I feel good about it, I know it's not a "necessity" but it would be nice to have video of Monkey crawling, making googly faces and eventually... winning the state championship on her high school basketball team. *wink*
It was a great weekend of steals and deals! I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend!
Somewhere around 22 weeks
Wednesday, June 02, 2004
Scott said something to me over the weekend that made me think "Whoa." He said, "She'll be here in less than 4 months." FOUR MONTHS?! That's nothing! So trying NOT to freak out over this little bit of reality check.... It's still at least 18 weeks to get things together. I've posted my 22 week belly pic, and I've gotten some requests to see me "in maternity clothes" so I've added a couple of those pictures... not the best, but hey, you get the idea. *wink*
Baby K has really been swingin' from tree limbs lately. I think she prefers to have her head on my left side, so when I lay on my left at night to go to sleep I get these big kicks on my right side as if she's saying "Hey, I'm standing on my head over here!" I've been grabbing Scott's hand whenever she starts really kicking, but I think she knows his hand because she stops IMMEDIATELY upon his touch.... But then we wait a few seconds and up to a minute and she starts again. I can sometimes see my belly moving from the kicks... it make me laugh, and to Scott he just says "It's like she's an alien ready to explode out of there!" Scott chuckles and says "She echos." I had to ask "What?" and he then made the motion with his foot of one big kick and a few other taps with the same foot. Too cute.
The only really big thing I've noticed since stopping my violent sickness episodes is that I get tired much easier now. I'm such an active person that's it's weird that I have to stop activities sooner and a catnap is good, but they are never long enough. Guess it takes a lot of energy to make baby parts! And of course you can't have a solid 8 hours of sleep without waking up in the middle of the night for a potty break... and I can't sleep in too long because then my stomach gets too empty and I start to feel nauseous due to the build up of stomach acid. I think I might have to partially blame my mom's genes for this problem. She has one of those stomachs that makes an insane amount of stomach acid.... During my 1st trimester I came to the realization that I may have this same problem. Sorry if that got a little TMI (too much information) for a second. hehe
I also got some great news yesterday, my mom found our Quatro Tour System at a different store for less and she is going to purchase the additional car seat base so that we will have a base in each car!!! This system is a little different print, but Scott liked it better, guess cuz it wasn't "as girly." teehehe And the best part.... It's coming from my favorite store on earth... Wal-Mart. hehe
And to top this great news off... my Godmother is giving us our glider with ottoman! WOO HOO!
Scott and I need to head out to BabiesRUs sometime in the coming weeks to finish up our registry. I don't think we need to add too much more stuff. I think mostly childproofing items... and of course anything that Scott sees as "cool." There are only a couple of big items that we need to get.... Which include a changing table and dresser. I have been eyeing a dresser at the JCPenny Outlet in their unfinished department. It's a low six-drawer dresser that is perfect and at the perfect price as well *wink*. Scott said he'd be willing to stain it maple to match the crib. I think we will be able to hunt down a changing table at BabiesRUs, so not going to freak out about that just yet.
My next doctor's appointment is July 1st and I hope to keep up the weight gain trend. I really love my AquaSculpt classes. When I mentioned the classes to my mid-wife she seemed very interested in where they were and other information. I am going to try and drop off some information to her to she can suggest that other women attend the classes.
